LWV Statement on the Murder of Charlie Kirk
The League of Women Voters of the United States has issued a statement condemning the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. LWVSP stands by this statement and condemns political violence:
The League of Women Voters is horrified by the targeted murder of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.
We extend our condolences to Mr. Kirk’s wife, children, family, and friends during this tragic time.
The League of Women Voters unequivocally condemns gun violence in any form. Every individual has the right to free speech and peaceful activism without fear of harm. Gun violence has no place in our democracy. Thank you to local law enforcement, whose response prevented further violence.
We call on Congress to take action and put an end to gun violence and political violence once and for all.

For over 100 years, the League of Women Voters has worked as a citizens' league to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. The League of Women Voters - Saint Paul joins the efforts of 800 state and local leagues to bring nonpartisan political advocacy, education, and empowerment to the local level.
Supporting your local League is essential to the success of our democracy at every level. As part of our work, we partner with LWV Minnesota and other local Leagues to coordinate events and educational debates, to register new voters, and much more. At the same time, we work at the local level to host candidate forums for St. Paul elections, to promote civic engagement in new voters with programs in area high schools, and to provide numerous opportunities to connect with others who are passionate about making democracy work.
Join the women and men who have been supporting democratic ideals since 1919.
